Code of Conduct/Consents/Waivers

Code of Conduct

Your registration for the NABIS 18th Annual Conference acknowledges your acceptance of the following code of conduct for all events and activities. You are to act in a professional and courteous manner to all attendees and North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS) and hotel/conference center staff throughout the conference. NABIS will not tolerate harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form. Harassment includes speech or behavior that is not welcome, personally offensive, inappropriate, or disruptive. Behavior that is acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another, so use discretion to be certain that respect is communicated to others. Harassment intended in a joking manner still constitutes unacceptable behavior.

Anyone experiencing or witnessing behavior that constitutes an immediate or serious threat to public safety at any time should immediately contact hotel/convention center security or local law enforcement (by calling 911 or similar emergency number).

If you are not in immediate danger but feel that you are the subject of unacceptable behavior, have witnessed any such behavior, or have other concerns, please notify an NABIS staff member (as soon as possible) who can work to resolve the situation. All reports will be treated seriously and responded to promptly.

Once NABIS is notified, staff will discuss the details first with the individual filing the complaint, then any witnesses who have been identified, and then the alleged offender before determining an appropriate course of action. Confidentiality will be maintained to the extent that it does not compromise the rights of others.

Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. NABIS staff (or their designee) or security may take any immediate action deemed necessary and appropriate, including removal from the conference without warning or refund.

NABIS expressly disclaims any liability arising out of your consumption of alcoholic beverages in conjunction with the conference. You are responsible for your own well-being. NABIS expressly disclaims liability for any acts or omissions of attendees resulting from excessive drinking, recklessness or negligence on the part of any participant(s). NABIS reserves the right to revoke your registration at any time for breach of the foregoing.

Consent

As a registered attendee or guest of the conference, you authorize NABIS to photograph your image as a participant in the conference sessions and events. Use of the photographs will be limited to NABIS and for future meeting promotional purposes only.
