The morning pre-conference will be a series of didactic presentations that outline the latest information on concussion/mTBI definition, new nomenclature, endophenotypes, biomarkers, prediction of delayed recovery, treatments, potential long-term consequences, and the emerging Biopsychosocial Model of care. The afternoon session will be a series of hands on workshops designed to present clinically useful information on acute office assessment, office assessment of autonomic dysfunction, a pediatric specific evaluation, efficient use of the SCOAT instrument, return to life, and emerging technology (virtual reality).

This full-day session will explore the clinical complexities in the diagnosis and management of severe brain injury which result in a spectrum of behavioral conditions known as Disorders of Consciousness (DOC). The critical role of scientific and evidence informed knowledge translation in DOC clinical practice will be emphasized. Attendees will learn evidence based best practices for assessments and rehabilitation aimed at enhancing care and improving both patient and family outcomes. By integrating recent research findings and practical strategies, this session empowers health care professionals to deliver effective and compassionate care for individuals facing these challenges.
