Biography
As Paradigm’s Vice President of Clinical Operations, Jo Carter oversees day-to-day management of the company’s national network of medical directors, nurse case managers and medical specialist consultants. She has also served as Paradigm’s Senior Director of Network Services, Director of Network Services and Network Manager.
Before coming to Paradigm, Jo held numerous nursing positions, specializing in catastrophic and neuroscience care, care coordination and long-term planning. She has worked as a Nurse Consultant for Riddick & Associates and Health Information Resources, coordinated medical treatment trials for a National Institute of Health study at the Medical College of Virginia and VA hospitals, and served as a Certified Critical Care Nurse in the shock/trauma and neuroscience intensive care units at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital.
Jo holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the Medical College of Virginia. She has been a board-certified Case Manager (CCM) since 1983 and was a charter member of the Academy of Certified Care Managers. A member of the Case Management Society of America, she has served on the executive committee of its central Virginia chapter, the board of the Care Planner Network, and the national workers’ compensation advisory board of The Shepherd Center. She was also a member of the board of commissioners for the Commission for Case Manager certification and sat on the executive committee and twice served as board chair. Jo has lectured nationally and published numerous articles in journals including Case In Point, Professional Case Management and The Case Manager.
